All you need to know about Child’s Pose

Even after practicing yoga for years, people often fail to reap its true benefits, reason being they hadn’t been doing it the right way. However, with regular practice and gaining comprehensive knowledge of various yoga poses, you may explore the true essence of Yoga. Child’s Pose, Child’s Resting Pose or Balasana is one such yoga pose that requires strict adherence to certain steps, though relaxing this pose may seem to be. Aside from providing complete relaxation, this pose also helps you improve your focus, digestion and mental aptitude.

Steps Involved

1. First you need to lie down in the Downward Facing Dog position, with your knees touching the floor or the yoga mat.

2. Now spread your knees as wide as you can while making sure that your big toes are in perfect contact with each other.

3. Your belly should now rest between your thighs and your forehead should touch the ground.

4. You may allow your palms to stretch in front of you and touch the yoga mat or the floor. If you don’t feel comfortable in this position, you may bring your arms beside your thighs. However, while doing so, your palms should face upwards.

1. Especially beneficial for those who often complain about back pain, the Balasana or Child’s Pose provides necessary stretch to your spine, hips, ankles and thighs.
