Acuyoga: The modern healing technique

Acuyoga is the modern healing technique

Yoga has been a traditional technique for healing the mind and the body for ages. But with more of research in the modern times doctors have come up with a new art of healing known as Acuyoga. This art uses both the acupressure and yoga techniques for a more effective treatment. In the traditional acupressure technique, pins are used on the pressure points that provide a soothing effect. But now in Acuyoga, the yoga postures are combined with the acupressure in which just the hands are used to press the pressure points.

The yoga postures are mainly used to awaken the meridian pathways in the body. The postures press specific points in the body so that the life energy in it can circulate easily and hence heal the body. Meridian pathways are composed of acupressure points, which connect different parts of the body, thereby acting as a channel.

In the process of Acuyoga, two people, generally termed as yoga partners, are required to perform the activity in which one person presses the acupressure points of the other. This is generally used for pregnant women and sick people.

Acuyoga affects the entire body, on a physical, mental, and psychic level, making it a perfect system to heal the body, and not the disease alone. It is filled with many procedures, asanas, pranayama that helps in the regulation of energy in the body.

The pressure points play an important role in Acuyoga as many yogic followers have said that there are many vital points in the body, which if pressed at different intensities, would start the healing process. These points are located all over the body, on palms, fingertips, soles, and the part between the ankle and the knees.

Amongst these various procedures is Mudra meditation, which helps in stimulating the pressure points offering a healing effect. In mudra meditation the five fingers of the hand depict five elements fire, air, water, earth and sky. The thumb represents the fire element, the index finger represents the air element, the middle is the sky element and the ring finger is the Earth element. The little finger represents the water element.  When any other finger comes in contact with the thumb then an electromagnetic effect is generated.

Different mudra meditations are:

Pran Mudra: This mudra is activated by the ring finger (earth element) and little finger (water element) together. It helps in enhancing the eye power.

Surya Mudra: This is activated by the ring finger (earth element) and it helps in reducing the body weight.

The healing technique of Acuyoga would rejuvenate your mind and also help you deal with stresses and tensions of every day. Simultaneously, this yoga technique would also make you physically fit.
