Follow yoga for better memory and eyesight

Practicing yoga regularly is a great way of keeping the body fit and healthy. The benefits of yoga are galore and it can help you mentally, physically and spiritually. This is an overall workout both inside and outside that reflects on one’s face and eyes, the way they move, they way they stand and above all the way they live. Two of the greatest health benefits of yoga are that it helps in better memory and eyesight.

Eyes

Yoga for enhanced eye health includes different techniques and exercises for improving overall eye health. These exercises help in relaxing the mind and keeping it devoid of any thoughts, akin to meditation. Some effective yoga exercise for eye health includes:

  • Moving eyes upward and moving it far downward as possible is a good exercise. Repeat the same 3-4 times and blink a few times, enabling the eye muscles to relax. After completing five sets of the activity, next close the eyes for 1-2 minutes for enabling the eye muscles to rest.
  • Roll the eyes slowly in a clockwise direction. Begin by lowering the eyes by staring at the floor. Next, move the eyes gradually towards the left and continue to roll them higher until looking towards the ceiling. Then roll the eyes towards the right and lower them until gazing at the floor once again. Once done, blink the eyes and close it for a couple of seconds enabling them to rest. Post completion of one round, repeat the same exercise in an anticlockwise direction.
  • Keep eyes wide open starting from the left towards the right devoid of putting any strain on them. Repeat this four times and by blinking frequently for resting the eye muscles.

  • Meditation – This requires more concentration and mental focus. Practicing meditation by itself or via in conjunction with pranayama and asana will solace the mind by cutting down excessive thinking.
  • Dharana – Also known as practice of concentration, dharana helps to yoke one’s wandering mind. It helps in relieving strain and stress on the mind and thereby increases mental strength. Effectiveness and efficiency of work are also known to improve. Practicing this daily will bring mental calm and peace to the wavering mind. Further, it also trains one’s mind in becoming focused, clear and directional.
