Auto urine therapy is considered as a part of Ayurvedic Yoga tradition and is also called ‘amaroli’. It is an ancient practice in India, Egypt and China and is widely practiced in many parts of the world. It is sometimes called as one’s own doctor and it is derived from the well known verse that says, “Drink water from your own cistern and the streams of your own well”.
Auto urine therapy is using one’s own urine internally or externally to treat or prevent illnesses. As claimed by urine therapy promoters, urine that is passed out of one’s body is not a toxic waste product. It contains water, minerals and salts that can be of great help to human body. Auto urine therapy is known to have many health benefits and many have attributed their secret of longevity to it.
As suggested by urine therapy practitioners, morning urine is the best to use however, one can use urine passed during other times as well. The body area should be thoroughly cleaned before passing urine. For collection, one needs to discard some urine that comes at the beginning and some at the end, to collect only the mid-stream urine. One can drink it immediately or dilute it with some water before dinking. The color, odor and quantity may change depending on dietary and other factors.
One can also begin taking only few drops of urine in some warm water like a medicine. The quantity can be gradually increased after being comfortable and seeing positive results.
Urine has an anti septic effect, because of the urea content in it. Urea is an anti fungal and anti bacterial agent. Hence urine can be used for healing wounds and for skin infections by applying externally. For this purpose fresh or old urine can be used. It has been used in eczema, psoriasis, herpes, etc.
It can be taken internally to enjoy good health and prevent diseases. It is supposed to be useful in treating diseases like arthritis, cancer, hepatitis, etc. It has also been used against snake poison and beestings.
One must be mentally prepared before beginning this therapy. For beginners, it is better to start with a few drops and gradually move forward.
People taking regular medications for medical conditions and those who are not very sure about the practice should consider taking their physician’s advice. Urine should never be injected in the body.
