Agnistambhasana- All you need to know about Fire Log Pose or Agnistambhasana

Agnistambhasana

Agnistambhasana or the Fire Log Pose helps you strengthen your outer hips. When translated from Sanskrit into English, Agnistambhasana means Fire Stack Pose. A seemingly easy – yet not that easy asana – pose, the Fire Log Pose involves bountiful application of your outer hips, hamstrings, lower back, glutes and quadriceps.

However, before you actually attempt doing Fire Log Pose, it’s advised that you include some hip-opening poses in your yoga routine.

Steps Involved

1. Extend your legs, straighten your spine, and sit on the floor with your resting by your sides. Now, bend your right knee and bring it closer to your chest. Next, place you right ankle above your left kneecap.

2. Now bend you left knee. Your left shin should lie under your right shin and the left ankle should be under the right knee.

3. Make sure that your right foot and your left knee should be parallel to each other. Thus, both your knees should be at right angle to each thigh.

4. Now sit straight and press your groins against the floor. Your fingertips should rest on the floor.

5. Try to focus on your third eye, i.e. the space between your eyebrows. Stay in this position for one minute. Finally, extend both legs into the Staff Pose.

Benefits

1. As already mentioned in the beginner, the Agnistambhasana or Fire Log Pose helps you strengthen your hips and groins.

2. Moreover, it stimulates the abdominal organs and ensures suppleness and strength to your legs and calves.

3. Another aspect, which should definitely interest you, is the fact that it soothes your mind and relieves tension, anxiety and stress.

Cautions

Those who are suffering with low back pain or knee injury should avoid this pose.
