Sony drops TBWA, gets Deutsch

sony ps3 ad tbwa deutschPossibly you don’t have to anymore watch those mind-numbing commercials of PlayStation3 any more. TBWA/Chait/Day could not win back the PlayStation account from Sony. After 13 years of association, Sony and TBWA have fallen apart. Advertising Age reports that Deutsch has bagged the $150 million account while beating the erstwhile favorite TBWA/Chiat/Day and other firms like Publicis, Venables Bell & Partners and RPA.
Deutsch will handle marketing programs for PS3, PS2, PS2, PS1, the PlayStation Network plus the game titles.

I don’t think Sony has not continued with TBWA for poor production or substandard works. For last 13 years since the launch of PSone, TBWA has been creating path breaking work for Sony. During those years, the agency has not only gained new grounds for its client but also has won numerous advertising awards.

Deutsch will very soon create a new PlayStation ad. We only hope this one will be more sleek and entertaining than the TGIFriday ad.
TBWA in a media statement said,
