Controversy. An effective way to attract attention. Besides the brands, some people also like to court controversy. They want to be in the limelight forever, even if it is for the wrong reasons. In advertising too, controversy is often deliberately created around a particular creative work or brand, just to get the desired attraction. But itâs a skewed way indeed. you donât know when will this strategy land you in really hot hot water.
Anyway, men behind the recent advertising efforts for BritainThinks.com might have thought that it being the best way to get the desired attention for the site by provoking women, the mighty group of human race. They created billboards and banner ads with the headline – Career women make bad mothers. In no time the headline drew widespread criticism, and I think that the advertisers have succeeded in their mission with that. The whole thing was concocted by the Outdoor Advertising Association and ad agency Beta. The website supposedly handles âhot topicsâ like this.
