Diabetes is a metabolism disorder where your body fails to convert digested food into energy. The food, after consumed, is converted into sugar called glucose. This glucose is then carried to each cell of the body by blood. There is a hormone called insulin, which converts blood glucose into energy. People who have diabetes fail to produce adequate insulin or body’s cell do not respond to insulin or maybe both. There are actually three type of diabetes.

In Type 1 diabetes, patients’ body does not produce insulin. Thus, they need to inject insulin to their body throughout their life. They also should do regular test to check blood sugar level. In Type 2 diabetes, the body does not produce adequate insulin or the body’s cell does not respond to insulin. This condition is called insulin resistant. The third type is gestational diabetics, which normally occur during pregnancy.

Type 2 diabetes is very common when compared with other two. Around 90% of the diabetes worldwide falls under this category. Earlier it was a disease associated with elderly people but nowadays it has become very common among children too, due to the lifestyle and change in eating habit. Overweight and obese people are easy target for developing this disease. If it is not treated, it can lead to other complications. One can control the blood sugar level by shedding that extra pound and by becoming more active. When the body becomes lethargic, it is bound to attract all sorts of diseases. Therefore, do plenty of exercise and keep your body moving. People who had close relatives with type 2 diabetes have a higher chance to get it. Therefore, they need to be careful right from the beginning.

The food that you take also can play a major role in helping to control Type 2 diabetics. People diagnosed with diabetics also found to have high blood pressure. Therefore, it is very important to control both. By controlling sodium intake, you can have a control on both. Choose vegetables, which have low sodium like broccoli. Even fruits like banana and apple are rich in mineral calcium and low in sodium. There two types of fat-good and bad. Your body definitely needs good fat, which is found in nuts. So try to eat this more as it also has low sodium content. Try to eat raw nuts rather than going for roasted, salted ones. Try to eat more fish, as this also has less sodium but do have healthy Omega 3 fatty acid. If you are cooking, try to use more spice and herbs for seasoning rather than going for salt. If eating out, it is always good to request to put less salt or no salt at all. Thus by closely watching on your food habits you can really improve your health and get rid of all the diseases.
