1. Saline water

Heat exhaustion occurs due to loss of water from our body. Hence the primary necessity for anyone suffering from heat exhaustion is to drink lots of water. This will help in restoring back the water that you have lost. A pinch of salt to a glass of water can be added and can be drunk. This will help in regaining strength.

2. Wrapping a wet cloth

People suffering from heat exhaustion have generally higher body temperatures. Therefore it is essential to bring down their body temperatures to normal. One should try to maintain low humidity level. For this purpose the person affected with heat exhaustion must be wrapped in wet cloth and fanned so as to bring down the body temperature.

3. Shady place to cool down the body

4. Lie down with raised legs

5. Do not drink cold water

When one is suffering from heat exhaustion, do not drink cold water as that may put the body in a shock. It is better to drink water at room temperature. If the uneasy feeling still persists, one should put an ice bag on the neck so as to lessen the body temperature. Dipping a towel in cold water and then placing it on your face also helps in reducing the heat and enables one to breathe easily. Carrying a bottle of water with yourself will help in reminding you to drink water and allay you from getting dehydrated.

6. Food with more water content should be eaten

Foods having more water content should be eaten by people suffering from heat exhaustion. This will reduce the body temperature and also increase the fluid content of the body. Cucumbers, tomatoes should be eaten, as they not only calm the body but also helps in lessening the internal body temperature. A glass of cold milk is also beneficial. Herbal tea or chamomile can also be taken as an alternative medicine for heat exhaustion.

7. Loosening of clothes

The person suffering from heat exhaustion should have their clothes loosened so as to allow air circulation and simultaneously help in bringing down the body temperature. Cotton, light colored clothes should be worn by persons who have to go out in hot weather. This helps in passing of air and maintaining normal body temperature.
