Enzyme therapy

Researcher

Enzyme therapy is a treatment modality which uses enzymes to treat specific diseases. Enzyme therapy has emerged as a form of naturopathy and is available in all forms of medical treatment.

Principle

Enzymes are made up of proteins and are supposed to be very important for the normal functioning of human body. They act as catalysts for most of the major functions performed by our body like digestion, reproduction, etc.

The structure of an enzyme molecule is like beads of protein molecules called amino acids. There is one point called the active site on the surface of these beads. This can be matched to its counterpart called the coenzyme, which is transformed into a new molecule by coming in contact with the enzyme. This is basis of regular bodily functions in which the enzymes play a vital role.

Enzyme therapy is based on the principle that when there is an imbalance in the enzyme system, it gives rise to various illnesses. It is therefore necessary to provide the body the required enzymes.

Method

In order to begin with enzyme therapy, it is important to know the deficiency of any specific enzyme and its related function. Enzymes are administered into the body through injections or can be taken orally. Sometime adding enzymes to supplements is also considered.

Specific instructions regarding taking the enzyme therapy before and after meals, sleep and exercise patterns should be followed as per the medical expert’s instructions.

Indications

Enzyme therapy is popularly used in the treatment of acne, arthritis, allergies, digestive troubles, musculoskeletal disorders and aging.
