WPP, world’s largest advertising and communication group from UK has bagged in what to be termed as one of the biggest (and closely watched) advertising contracts of the year after Dell, world’s second biggest personal computer maker zeroed on it as it wants to integrate its worldwide marketing, advertising and communication operations.

The contract is worth $4.5 billion. Must be a respite to Sir Martin Sorrel, the chief executive of the company as increasingly over last so many months investors were losing interest on the group. In the last six months, WPP’s share price has fallen by 18%.

WPP is obviously more than excited with the development. It has decided to set up an exclusive set up for Dell which will see Dell’s PR operations and other marketing programs spread across 800 different firms.

Dell is desperate to upscale its brand image. Its biggest rival Hewlett-Packard has been consistently performing well in the personal computer market for quiet some time now and successfully has been able to snatch away PC market share from Dell.
