White Ribbon Day Ad comes under Fierce Criticism

A recent television advertisement campaign to commemorate White Ribbon Day came under fierce criticism from various quarters alleging the advertisement is grossly disturbing. This day has been chosen as the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25. The advertisement campaign includes print and radio ads as well and the campaign has been created by Saatchi & Saatchi.

One of the print titled ‘self-amputation seminar’ has shown a bloody knife with the accompanying lines written as men prepared to give their right arm for their daughters should start by wearing a white ribbon.

On the other hand, the advertising watchdog does not seem like coming into action for the moment. Further, few selected TV channels have reportedly agreed to air the advertisement.
