Succumbing to the widespread criticism Volkswagen agreed to pull off its controversial advertisement, Jumper. The television commercial was recently launched featuring a man preparing to commit suicide by jumping off a building. The person was eventually persuaded to not to commit suicide by the promise of an affordable Volkswagen car.
The Jumper advertisement drew fierce criticism from various agencies such as Suicide Prevention Action Network and National Alliance on Mental Illness. They argued that the ad has trivialized the cause of suicide and they further contended that many suicides occur as copycat behavior.
The advertisement was created by Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Miami.
