A vodka ad campaign, recently received ire from the Advertising Standards Complaints Board. The ad offered a free journey to Moscow to find a Russian bride. No matter what it gets but Gareth Hughes, marketing manager for 42 Below Stil Vodka is not showing any concern to the recent development. The sassy ad however helped the company to sell liquor to the tune of $90,000.
The bottle tags of ‘Find-a-bride’ campaign proclaim, ‘Russian Women are awesome! They don’t care if you watch cricket on Valentine’s Day. Hell! They don’t even care if you’re short and fat! It’s almost too good to be true.
The complain against this ad has been filed on the ground that it is insulting and disrespectful of Russian culture. Further, it has been reasoned out that the ad has portrayed Russian women as commodities.
