Unicef’s campaign for over 1.5 million underprivileged in China depicts the harsh reality of modern world. The poor children end up becoming part of urban ‘landscape’ in almost every other city of the world. Ignored by all, left to fend for themselves. The ad campaign is by renowned ad agency Ogilvy & Mather, China. It shows a poor boy sitting camouflaged on a staircase, staircase not meant for him and that does not take him anywhere. The picture reminds of pathos depicted in Chaplin films. It’s not about poverty of the boy that hurts but insensitivity of the modern world towards millions of poor innocent children which hits harder.
