This is an interesting cinema advertisement campaign launched by The Mail to promote its You and Live magazines. The advertisement also marks the first ever cinema advertisement launched by The Mail. The advertisement is aiming at displaying that these magazines are so engaging that the readers virtually lost into it reading and tend to brush aside everything to read it. The advertisement is showing two armies representing men and women going to war on a battleground. They carry out attacks on each other wit their usual favorite articles like football, handbags and so on representing attitude of both men and women.

The 60 second ad ends in harmony as Sunday arrives and the armies take a break to read You and Live. The strategy was for the two of the most popular magazines in the arena, cinema provided the ideal framework to target young couples. It was this background that sparked off an idea to create an epic ‘battle of the sexes’ script. The other side of the creative strategy was that Sunday and Sunday newspaper reading is a moment of harmony in a couple’s hectic week. The advertisement was created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
