Huge billboards and skyscraper-sized hoarding lines are synonymous to the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil which is now struggling for its survival. Recently, mayor of Sao Paulo, Gilbert Kassab, has taken a disapproving view regarding these ad spread over entire city for product promotion.
In fact, most of the posters and billboards has been placed on the walls of buildings illegally. Kassab has branded it ‘visual pollution’ and if he succeeds to have his way, very soon all the advertising displays would be banned in the city.
Interestingly, ordinary citizens of the city are seemingly not too keen to this idea as they argue that city’s grey concrete would start looking more grayer if the colorful ads are stripped from the city’s walls.
On the other hand, advertising industry is quite shocked and worried following these developments. Now they have to keep their fingers crossed until the fate of this bill is not decided.
