This television advertisement was launched to create awareness regarding violence against women in Philippines. The advertisement released under public interest has used star power to persuade people to report any incident of abuse they come across. The advertisement was created in Filipino language. The idea was to present famous personalities to influence people to act against violence against women.
The advertisement is featuring famous actresses Angel Locsin, Jennylyn Mercado, Rio Locsin, and Tessie Tomas and a Philippine senator Manny Villar. The advertisement has used absolutely nothing but message. There no debate whether message is being delivered without any effort but the question arises regarding the effectiveness of the ad. The ad was produced in association with local feminist group Gabriela.
The copy of the ad says, ‘Love me not because I’m beautiful, or because I’m an actress, or because I make you laugh. Love me because I’m a woman-a mother, a wife, a daughter. Abusing women is against the law’. While Manny Villar says, ‘They gave birth to us, take care of our families, and work hard to improve our lives’.
