Economic downturn is not affecting the cinemas. The filmdom is enjoying a seven-year high in ticket sales this year. More than 83,459,465 have already been sold in the first half of 2009 as people look for cheaper entertainment.
Figures released by the Cinema Advertising Association (CAA) shows that Slumdog Millionaire is the most successful movie in the UK, with box-office takings of £31,664,316.Other big hits include sci-fi blockbuster, Monsters Vs Aliens and the latest incarnation of Star Trek.
The second half of this year also looks bright with yet-to-be-released films like Harry Potter, New Moon, James Cameron’s 3D sci-fi film Avatar and disaster epic 2012. This is a blockbuster year for the UK filmdom.
