This television commercial has sparked off a row in the Newfoundland fishing town for which the Nissan’s SUV has been named. The brand new Nissan special X-Trail version has been named after Bonavista to glorify the fishing town’s tough past. The TV commercial was first aired in December this year featuring a sales representative, explaining the benefits of Bonavista to a prospective customers in an indecipherable accent.

As the deliberate move was to show the sales representative to speak in a fumbling accent, the ad has used subtitles to make sentences clear. The row has been sparked off on the view that the ad has portrayed people of Bonavista in a manner that reflect that people of Bonavista do not know how to speak.

If the contents of online forum taken into account, no doubt it appears that the issue has been heavily debated and there are some swings as well spotted towards positive direction.
