NetEase has entered into an agreement with MasterKong, a Chinese drinks maker, to place ads on MasterKong bottled teas of its online game Datang. MasterKong, in return, will promote its product on Datang. Netease is likely to incorporate certain virtual settings, items and character in the game to promote MasterKong.
MasterKong seems to quite upbeat with this agreement and expects a jump of 500 million bottles in the sales of icy green and red teas this summer.
On the other hand, NetEase has refuted the point that the partnership indicates that it is trying to replace the existing revenue model with a new one.
