MediaCorp has recently launched a new e-classified website called mocca, coined from terms MediaCorp Online Communities and Classified Advertising. The latest advertising platform aims at raising the interactivity through users search, for free, in different categories ranging from cars to fashion. The website is also planning to include features such as discussion forums for like-minded sellers and buyers. Placing an advertisement is free for all categories, except property and vehicles. The advertiser will be able to upload up to five images and a video link with each advertisement. As so far, advertisements in property and vehicles are concerned, each advertisement will be charged $15 for each seven days listing.

Advertisers would be able to edit or completely change an ad, in case if they wish to do so during these seven days, after which they will be required to renew the listing. Interestingly, it is decided that the advertisements on this website will expire after seven days in order to ensure that advertisements on mocca are current. Many online classified website maintain long expiration period to create impression of having large volumes of advertisements.

Speaking on the occasion of the launch, MediaCorp’s vice-president Timothy Goh said, ‘With mocca, you can watch videos of the product and then talk about it in discussion forums as we roll this out progressively. This will bring the peer-to-peer marketplace closer.’ Usually, websites of this genre maintain just one way communication as potential buyers can only preview the product and read about it, whereas this website aims at creating an interactive platform for buyers and sellers.
