Seven world’s leading advertising agencies have recently teamed up with MTV to launch an advertising campaign to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS free of cost. They are most likely to use humour and controversy in order to launch an assault on the stigma and complacency surrounding the disease. The campaign is scheduled to be launched on world’s AIDS day on coming Friday. The campaign will show a set of 24 ads on MTV channels.
Reuters reported that the ads will be shown across 57 MTV channels along with 35 international broadcasters aiming at a potential audience of two billion people. The campaign is a part of the Global Media AIDS Initiative launched by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
The leading advertising agencies that offered their services for free to WPP and MTVNI are Cake, Y&R, 180 Amsterdam, Lowe Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather, Wieden + Kennedy 12.
