Kentucky Fried Chicken came under intense criticism for its latest video advertisement. The latest ad has shown an old Taoist encircled with his learners enthusiastically holding a chicken burger and asserting it as a magnum opus.
However, this ad has infuriated the Chinese community as they see it as too offensive and showing no respect for Chinese history.
Moreover, the backdrop of the scene and old Taoist clothing has been largely influenced by the famous movie Seven Swords. However, KFC has earlier imitated the scenes of Seven Swords as well.
The infuriated sections of Chinese society have alleged that if this trend of undermining the Chinese culture will continue, if not checked at the very onset.
