Marketers are more and more billed for ineffective traffic generated by scam artists and illegal hackers. To settle a lawsuit against click fraud Google is refunding err… shelling out $60m to its advertisers. One of them seems pretty disgusted though. Director of Internet Marketing for Radiator John Sys says, ‘It’s almost like an insult that they expect us to take this token money.’
The settlement could go as high as $90m as Google is expected to pay back an additional $30m to the lawyers who have settled the case on behalf of advertisers under the class action click fraud suit.
An independent research study claims that anywhere from $100 to $400 million of every $1000m adsense money stems from click fraud.
