Tennessee Tourism Department has come up with a rocking idea of attracting tourists into the state. First of its kind in the history of broadcast television the local lad Elvis Presley with Dolly Parton will feature in a 30 second commercial to promote Tennessee tourism. The ad is a clip from 1967 flick, ‘Clambake,’ where king Elvis is driving his red convertible Corvette Stingray. The scene from the film is digitally recreated.
The two year old campaign, ‘The Stage is Set For You’ earlier have included Parton and Issac Hayes.
Tennessee in 2004 has visited 44 million visitors. According to the tourism department of the State the industry is now worth $11 billion and directly and indirectly employs more than 177,000 workers.
