Chrysler Group has recently apologized for this advertisement running on Internet that showed a dog being electrocuted beside its new Dodge Nitro sports utility vehicle. The dog was electrocuted by the vehicle soon after urinating on a Nitro’s wheels. The advertisement that ended with the dog going up in flames, has the punch line ‘charged with adrenaline.’ Chrysler in its statement has said that the ad was placed exclusively on the Internet. The company further said that the advertisement included ‘fictional yet inappropriate treatment of an animal’ and said it was ‘in extremely bad taste.’

The advertisement was created by BBDO, Netherlands, which promotes Chrysler’s sales in the Dutch market. Chrysler’s denunciation of the advertisement came after Atlanta Falcons football player Michael Vick was indicted over alleged involvement in a dog-fighting operation. Moreover, Chrysler is no stranger for creating controversy for its advertisements. Chrysler in its official statement said, ‘Chrysler Group was dismayed to discover that an advertisement created by an ad agency supporting our Netherlands Market Performance Center goes far beyond the bounds of what the company considers appropriate’.
