AT&T is crying foul over cable TV operators who it has alleged are not airing phone industry backed issues ads. The country’s biggest phone company feels the cable companies are trying to twist the political debate on the issue. AT&T in its complaint letter to the Federal Communications Commission said
That these dominant cable operators would even attempt to manipulate the political process in this manner shows just how far the current regulatory regime has departed from basic norms of market competition and free and fair debate.
In response Time Warner Cable said that it is not mandatory for them to carry competitor’s advertisement. Comcast said it felt AT&T’s ad campaign delivers false promise.
