Ad agency gets into TV show production

The famous advertising agency WPP has decided to break into TV production with making a new six-part drama for NBC. The drama, October Road, will be co-produced by Touchstone Television and WPP’s media buying and planning arm group M. However, as of now, Group M is not relying on advertisers to fund their upcoming series but its involvement with the production will definitely help it to get better rates and slots for its clients.

This development signals towards a new trend of advertising world as the agencies are looking to be involved with TV content. However, analysts argue that the exact model used by WPP in U.S. is not likely to be repeated elsewhere such as U.K. and Europe despite of the fact that broadcasters and advertisers are looking to re-align their relationship in a new perspective.
