In an economy, where news papers and magazines find it hard to fetch adequate ad revenue, more and more incidents of ‘disguised ads’ are appearing. We have read about The Los Angeles Times before. Now, Wenner Media’s ‘Us Weekly’ shows us another such example.

The celeb weekly, in its April 20 issue, comes with a mock cover, which is actually a part of a five-page ad to promote HBO’s film Grey Gardens. The cover is meant to resemble a 1940s-era issue of Us Weekly and features Grey Garden’s stars Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore. The real cover, featuring Lindsay Lohan, follows the mock cover.

Though the word “advertisement” appears across the top of its mock cover, and other features like the logo and fonts are changed,it is doubtful whether the readers could realize this.
