This ad is in favor of Proposition 86 that envisages putting an additional tax of $2.60 on every pack of cigarette. Moreover, the ad certainly seems to be accidentally conveying that the additional tax would only help the tobacco companies. The Prop 86 aims at reducing smoking especially among teenage children by making it expensive and consequently making it unaffordable.
The ad further tries to show that tobacco companies are liars but fails to convey what exactly they are lying about. The additional levy has been planned to use for tobacco control efforts, cancer, heart and asthma programs. The ad is having punch line, ‘Big tobacco wants to defeat Prop. 86’.
