We are a bit sadistic about the year 2012, by ‘predicting’ the end of world and researching on the ‘hints’ about the calamities that are going to take place in that year. If you are a person who seriously believe in those predictions, skip this page, because the subject of this article doesn’t count if the world is going to end in 2012. It handles predictions about the end of another world- the web world where users have access to the vast, unlimited content.

We have just stepped into the year of 2010, and this year may commence the end of the free web world, and there are industry experts who believe that by 2012, the end will be completed.

Now, we have unlimited access to the internet content- whether news, pictures, videos or music. The wind seems to be set to blow in a totally different direction. Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has already indicated this change before. Online newspapers like the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times already charge for a part of their content. Paid subscription is becoming the order of the day on this World Wide Web. This year, more publications like New York Times may implement this pay wall idea.

However, there is not a clear-cut plan for building-up this cash barrier, and we are not sure how the consumers will respond to this move.
