Biodanza technique is an amazing experience of life through dancing. Literally, ‘bio’ stands for life and ‘danza’ stands for dance, which also means dance for life. It is a technique meant for rediscovering the purity of love and life through the beauty of touch and movement.

 

History

This is a unique therapy of human integration and development with the help of music, emotions and natural dance movements. It was pioneered by Prof. Ronaldo Toro in early 1970’s, who was a psychologist and an artist himself.

 

 

Principle

The main principle of Biodanza is to re-educate yourself about the real meaning of life and understand your own self. It is like getting connected to your soul and expressing yourself through natural movements. This technique enables you to restore yourself, improve your behavior and understanding, believe in yourself and others, enables you to come in contact with others and to rediscover love. To make this difference, the biodanza technique makes use of dance movements on specific music, which is called ‘vivencia’.

 

 

Method

A safe and secure place is selected for practicing Biodanza. A specific music is played, which stimulates life in the participants and they begin to express themselves through natural dance movements. The place becomes full of creative movements and self expression, which promotes rediscovery of one’s real self. Participants get in touch with each other and give an outlet to their inner emotions.

The Biodanza technique is considered therapeutic as it enables the mind, body and soul to work in harmony. When the mind is distressed the body movements are restricted and the body muscles get tensed.
