Face it! Up keeping luscious hair is a tough job. If you do not have the time to visit a salon on a regular basis or the inclination to spend tons of money each time to treat your hair, fret not. You can provide your hair just the amount of tender loving care that it needs right at your own home. In order to have a luscious hair, you will need to have a healthy scalp. Natural ingredients found around you or in your pantry such as eggs, honey and yogurt can be used to upkeep your hair and scalp. Likewise, ingredients such as avocado oil, almond oil and even lemon can help nourish your hair without you having to fork out huge amounts of money.

All Types of Hair

One home treatment for all hair types would be the use of eggs. Egg yolks are inexpensive and highly beneficial in rendering a healthy, luscious and strong hair. Egg whites on the other hand have enzymes which help remove excess oil from the scalp. If you have normal hair, you could use the whole egg to condition your hair. Simply crack an egg, beat it and massage the egg mixture into your scalp and hair. Let the mixture sit on the head for about 20 minutes and then rinse. Then apply shampoo as per normal. If you have oily hair, use only the egg white as they will work effectively to remove the excess oil from the scalp. Use egg yolks only to condition and moisturize dry and brittle hair. Regardless of the hair type, keep the egg mixture on for about 20 minutes, wash off and then follow up with a shampoo.

Dull Hair

If you have dull hair, you can use yogurt as a hair mask. Yogurt contains lactic acid as well as anti fungal and bacterial properties. Yogurt when applied on your hair will help with hair growth and eliminate dandruff. The protein in the yogurt will work to moisturize your hair and smooth en strands so as to remove the frizzy texture of your hair. Massage yogurt onto damp hair and leave it on for around 20 minutes. Then wash with warm water, cool water and then shampoo as per normal. This routine can be performed once in 2 weeks.

Itchy Scalp

Itchy scalp can be very irritating and caused by a variety of factors like dandruff, dry scalp, lifestyle, etc. Lemon juice is regarded as very beneficial for getting rid of this problem. All you need to do is to rub lemon juice on the scalp and rinse your hair after a few minutes.

Fine Hair

If you are yearning for volume in your hair, think of an alcoholic drink. Yes, beer might just be the solution to your problem. The yeast in beer helps to pump volume to your hair. Make some flat beer and mix ½ a cup of this with a raw egg. Apply this mixture to damp hair and keep for around 15 minutes. Following this, rinse it off with cool water.

Dry/Sun-Damaged Hair

Honey helps treat such hair and all you need to do is apply ½ cup honey onto damp hair and keep it on for about 20 minutes. Then rinse. Olive oil can also be added to aid application.

Oily Hair

Cornmeal can be used to remove excess oil. All you need to do is to sprinkle 1 tablespoon of cornmeal onto dry hair and scalp. 10 minutes later use a brush to remove it.

Frizzy Hair

Mash avocado and massage the paste into damp hair. After 15 minutes, wash it off. You can increase the moisturising power of avocado by adding egg yolk or sour cream to the paste.

Residue-ridden Hair

Mix baking soda to a small amount of water and make a thick paste. Massage this paste into damp hair and leave it for about 10 minutes. Wash off then use shampoo as normal.
