Eurhythmy is an art of harmonious movement as a form of expression. It was originated as a performing art which is expressed in the form of movement. This is usually done using the creativity of music and speech.

History

This unique system of alternative healing was introduced by Dr. Rudolf Steiner. He realized that human body system can express itself in the form of movements.

 

Principle

Human body is a part of the creative world and there is creative movement present everywhere. The human body makes subtle movements in relation to the internal emotions. This marks the presence of life and health in humans.

If there is an imbalance it can affect the health of an individual. Dr. Steiner discovered that speech consonants and vowels express the energy in nature and a person’s internal response. These can be used to bring back the balance in the human body system, which can help in healing.

Method

Eurhythmy therapy aims at bringing a change and re-establishing the balance in the body of an individual. This therapy uses rich expressions of speech and music. These gestures and musical tones are used therapeutically to restore and heal individuals.

Eurhythmy therapy comprises of exercises, which the therapist teaches the participants. The exercise sessions are planned for a specific duration and are followed by a rest period. Effects are seen till long after the sessions are over.

Eurhythmy therapy not only aims at disappearance of symptoms but encourages an active process of healing and promotes the individual to participate in conscious rhythmic and harmonious movements.  

 

Indications

Some of the conditions for which eurhythmy therapy can be helpful are respiratory disorders like asthma, allergies, heart and digestive troubles, diabetes, menstrual problems or hormonal imbalances, psychological problems and sleep disorders and for general health and balance.
