This is an impressive print advertisement campaign launched by World Association of Newspapers to commemorate World Press Freedom Day. The campaign hits back at the governments that still prevent vital information to go to the press on the pretext of global security. The campaign clearly spells out that even now people are being deprived of vital information that has been blocked by the governments to go public. The advertisements are showing two different statements which appear to have been heavily censored by the authorities however, the readable text still manage to convey its message.
The presentation of the advertisements is simple and straight, however, it requires a bit of concentration to read the entire text of the advertisements. The crucial words were strategically censored in order to show how press freedom has been curtailed worldwide by the high handedness of the authorities. The punch line of the campaign reads, ‘This ad is not just about censorship’. The advertisement was created by Sanjeev Saikia.
