Recently the principal of Kent elementary school has directed the teachers that they should make sure that they are wearing a full sleeve if they are bringing Starbucks coffee to school. The decision was taken in order to hide the image of a topless mermaid printed on the cups. As a matter of fact, Starbuck has decided to switch over to its original logo in which an image of a bare-breasted mermaid has been shown, to commemorate its 35th anniversary.
However, the company has re-launched this logo in stores of Washington and Oregon. The company seems to be quite relaxed with the recent developments as the company has stated that the matter has been tossed only in Kent and no-where else. The company clarified its position on using original logo, twin-tailed mermaid or siren from Greek mythology, saying ‘its all about perspective’.
