This print advertisement from the European Youth Campaign against Racism, supported by Commission for Racial Equality, tries to make a âbrainy connectionâ to the issue of racism. The campaign, developed by Saatchi & Saatchi London , features the brain sizes of a European, Asian, African and a racist. The brain of the racist is the smallest among them.
The campaign, if taken literally, has an inherent problem. It indicates that racism is a result of low intelligence hence there is no cure for it. To connect racism to brain power doesnât seem to be an effective strategy then.
There is another implication that racism is a result of small mindedness. That is, when one becomes a racist, he or she is actually thinking in a stupid, mean way.
