NY Attorney General sues one more pop-up ad firm

Another Internet pop-up advertising company has been sued by New York’s attorney general condemning it for installing spiteful programs on personal computers with anybody’s knowledge and distributing ads through already installed spy-ware.

Eliot Spitzer has already sued one company on allegations that it had installed spyware and ad-ware software without the computer user’s full knowledge. Even Direct Revenue did the same and installed millions of pop-up ad programs, which were monitoring the internet activities of various users.

In the civil law suit has been filed in state Supreme Court in New York claiming that Direct Revenue or its distributors were offering free games, browsers or software without mentioning that they would come with VX2, Aurora, Offer Optimizer and other ad-ware downloads.

Intermix till yet has also agreed to pay $7.5 million in penalties over three years.

Spitzer said:

We will continue to side with consumers in their fight for control of their desktops.
