This is an interesting print advertisement campaign was launched by Natural Resources Defense Council in Brazil to raise awareness about environment conservation and global warming. The campaign apparently tries to remind people that if they would not take steps to curb global warming, they would be treated as some infamous world leaders and personality, who are depicted as enemy of humanity. The advertisements are showing photographs of Hitler, Osama bin-laden and the present US president George Bush and the accompanying text indicate towards notion that as these leaders are seen as enemy of civilization, people at large would be seen as destroyer.
Though, the message of the campaign is conveyed easily but the approach of it has raised several eyebrows. Many people are critical about politicizing conservation of the environment. In addition, portrayal of linking personalities especially in negative shades sometimes may invite adverse situation for the campaign.
The campaign is only based on a concept where art direction and execution did not need much creativity to exercise. The text of the campaign reads, ‘This is how nature sees you. NRDC – The Earth’s best defense.’ The campaign is created by Miami Ad School/ESPM, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
