This ad campaign is saying, ‘Carbon dioxide is not pollution but life’. It may seem strange, however, this slogan ‘Carbon dioxide – they call it pollution, we call it life’ has become the mantra of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), an oil industry-funded lobby group. The growing evidence of climate change, the global warming etc. observed in all parts of the world, does not carry any value to an industry sponsored lobby group.
A senior scantiest, Mr. Davis, whose report on the Antarctic-ice is featured on the advertisement has criticized CEI and said that his study result was quoted completely out of context. He feels that this is ‘a deliberate effort to mislead’ people and the ‘fact that the interior ice sheet is growing is a predicted consequence of global warming.’
This is not new; green world campaigners are long accusing the CEI of creating misleading and incorrect claims about global warming.
