By calling it “subliminal” and that the network has a long standing policy against such kind of advertising, ABC, the advertising watchdog rejected KFC’s new television commercial, “we are not chicken.” In the ad Kentucky Fried Chicken, the fast food chain allows viewers to crack a secret message if they rewind the ad and play the spot back slowly on Digital video recorder or VCR. Upon searching viewers will find a message which enables them for a free lunch or dinner, whatever. The stunt is done to counter the technology that allows viewers to skip television commercial.
However, KFC does not agree with ABC and to the fact that the advertising spot was subliminal in nature.
