iPhone ad ‘misleading’, says Advertising Standards Authority

apple iphone in hand thumb vj2FU 3342Success always has a flipside. If a product earns rave reviews, it also draws intense scrutiny. iPhone perhaps would be the best example to justify this fact. The latest we hear is that an ad promoting the iPhone has been trashed for ‘misleading’ information. A TV commercial apparently positioned the iPhone as one with ‘all the parts of the internet’. The reason for its inaccuracy is sourced from the fact that the phone doesn’t support Java or Flash, which are used by several websites. Owing to their proprietary nature, these software were kept out of the phone. Apple, though, believes the ad has been misinterpreted and the basic premise was the availability of webpages on the phone and not the appearance per se. For all we know, Apple would put this behind and come up with refinements like in the past. At the same time, we believe there is too much ado about nothing. The iPhone will still hold on to its reputation.
