It is not good to drag a person into unwanted public attention. Even if it is a leader, we should respect his/her privacy. We canât just poke our inquisitive nose into otherâs life and laugh at them (unless it is Britney Spears or Paris Hilton).
What prompted adpunch to say this is a particular incident, which may seem funny at first, but actually something which hurts sentiments. A billboard which carries an illustration of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in purple bra and knickers has been placed on Berlinâs main shopping strip, the “Kuâdamm”. This is a part of a campaign for an underwear company. It uses a slogan resembling a political tone- âThe country needs new undiesâ
The campaign urges consumers to trade in their old underwear for a discount on new ones.
Angela Merkel is not new to controversies. Last year, she made headlines by wearing a low-cut dress to the opening of the Oslo Opera House. “Merkel’s Weapons of Mass Destruction” that was the headline of the British tabloid âthe Daily Mailâ.
But this is not intentional. She was dragged into unwanted public gaze in an embarrassing way.
