South African most talked about cricketer in recent times, Hashim Amla is once again holding center stage following a controversial advertisement. A Johannesburg based electronic company, Copy Type Electronics, which distributes Toshiba products had placed an advertisement with the strap line, ‘Thank goodness Amla didn’t face a coolie kreeper.’
South African whites used the term ‘coolie’ as an insulting allegory for persons of Indian origin. Moreover, the above-mentioned term has now been banned from usage.
The company, however, has removed the ad from the spot and apologized to Amla for the unfortunate incident.
