Google expands newspaper ad project

Google
seems to have sensed a lucrative prospect in selling advertisements in newspapers. Google has reportedly expanded its program, which will allow marketers to purchase ad space in American newspapers. The company had started this project in late last year when it formed an alliance with 50 newspapers including New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, to start with.

However, selling advertisements in newspapers is quite unexpected to pick the market quickly. The program is expected to gain momentum with a gradual pace.

According to reports, Journal Sentinel Inc., publisher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has recently joined the program. Now the system will allow advertisers to go online and make bid for the ad in the given newspapers. On the other hand, in an interesting development, Google has lost a legal battle in a Belgian court over the dispute of publishing news content of a Belgian newspaper without permission and consequently breaching copyright rules.
