Google expands its Adsense network on mobile phones

Online search leader Google Inc. aims to expand its dominance as it has opened its AdSense contextual ad platform to content owners with sites created for handset browsers. Google will now allow marketers to place contextual ads on sites viewed via mobile devices. Web site publishers can partake in this course only if their site is optimized for mobile browsers.

The firm in its statement has said, ‘With this program, advertisers can connect with the growing number of mobile publishers, ultimately providing users with an enhanced mobile experience that helps them find what they are looking for more quickly and efficiently on the move’.

AdSense for Mobile devices gives the capability to AdSense publishing associates to receive revenue from their mobile websites through the targeted placement of mobile text advertisements.

However, Google, in respect with the highly competitive field mobile advertising is not alone. Yahoo and AOLTime Warner have also created advertising networks especially for mobile phones. The advertisements would offer another source of revenue for publishers and could persuade more Internet sites to create mobile-focused Web sites.
