GM to amend controversial robot ad

Succumbing to the growing pressure, General Motors has decided to amend this television commercial that made debut during this Super Bowl. The advertisement has shown a hopeless robot commits suicide after loosing his job at GM manufacturing unit. The advertisement instantly received fierce criticism from a suicide pressure group and consequently the company decided to amend the advertisement.

The New York-based American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has vehemently raised objection to the 60-second commercial that was aired during the Super Bowl. Despite receiving objections that it was insensitive to those touched by suicide, the advertisement continued to run through the week.

The advertisement was created by Deutsch Los Angeles, which had received account to promote the new warranty program in September involving around $60 million. Moreover, the advertisement drew considerable attention on the Web, which in fact triggered a discussion on the quality of the company.
