Girls, who stole your self-esteem? Itâs the media, itâs the sickly thin-centric fashion industry and itâs your own very perception about beauty and fashion. In this situation, a much noticeable campaign has been developed by the Girl Scouts of America, with a view to promote self-esteem among its new members.
As part of this initiative, the organization presents its four plus-sized models- Anansa Sims, Leona Palmer, Julie Henderson, and Lizzie Miller. In the new PSA as part of the initiative points out to the disturbing findings of the body image survey Girl Scout Research Institute that found that almost 90 percent of the 1,000 girls polled, aged 13 to 17, thinks that the fashion industry and media placed too much emphasis on being thin.
In addition to the new Web campaign, the Girl Scouts and Dove Self-Esteem Fund have teamed up to create self-esteem programming for girls across the country.
