For ad industry, American Idol ranked most expensive for the third straight years

For the third straight years, American Idol held the top position for being the most expensive regular series in terms of advertisements. As reported by Advertising Age, buying a 30-second ad for the show when its making its debut during midseason would cost advertisers roughly $700,000.

However, the trade publication has observed that some advertisers may pay them less as being in their preferential list and depending upon the number of spots taken by particular advertisers for throughout the season and their overall commitment to the Fox network. At the same time it has already been made clear that the commercials running on the final nights of the contest will cost considerably higher than that of those running at the beginning of the show.

Fox’s another series house has been ranked as the second most expensive regular show and ABC’s Desperate Housewives and NBC’s Sunday Night Football are standing on the third and fourth number respectively.
